How do i start an nDIS
Plan?
First of all, you need to apply for NDIS funding by filling out the Access Request Form and emailing it to the NDIA. Once they receive your form, they will subsequently invite you for a planning meeting to discuss the supports that are reasonable and necessary to you and what kind of funding would best suit your needs.
Once you have been approved for funding and you receive your budget, you can start creating your plan. During this initial meeting and continuously throughout your plan, you can set or change your goals to help you live a happy, healthy life. Your Plan Manager will help to facilitate these goals by connecting you to the most appropriate providers.
The funding under SIL supports the assistance and support needed in these situations rather than the costs of the accommodations themselves. Expenses such as rent, groceries, utilities, telephones, and internet access, as well as general household items such as furniture, appliances, and cooking utensils are the responsibility of the participant or may be supported through other government or non-government programs. Only assistive devices or aids can be supported through NDIS funding.

What Does an NDIS Plan Manager Do?
Your NDIS Plan Manager plays a key role in managing your plan funding and ensuring your providers are paid on time. They handle invoice processing and budget tracking on your behalf, giving you peace of mind and more time to focus on your goals.
Your Plan Manager can communicate directly with your service providers or coordinate through you — depending on your preferences. They also provide regular updates and monthly spending statements to help you stay informed and in control of your NDIS budget.

What should be included in the NDIS Plan?
Your NDIS Plan outlines your goals, aspirations and the supports you require to reach them, plus the funding you receive from the NDIS. This is what is initially discussed at your planning meeting. Every participant has their own unique plan, created to meet your goals. Your first plan is the start of a lifelong relationship with the NDIS and, as your life and circumstances change, so will your plan.
Your plan includes the following information:
- Information about you, the disability you live with, your day-to-day activities, where you live, and who cares for you.
- Your family and friends who already provide support for you to pursue your goals.
- Services and community groups that you are a part of already such as health centres, libraries, and public transport.
- Your goals that you would like to achieve under your plan and lifelong goals that your NDIS funding can help you reach.
- What supports have been funded for you and in what categories. This may change along with your goals and life changes.
How do you write an NDIS goal?
To write your goals, it’s important to reflect on your life and think about the things you enjoy, what you want to improve, and what you want to achieve. These can be written into shorter term and longer term goals and can be added to and changed throughout your plan. Your goals are very personal to you. Everyone’s goals are likely to be different and a close family member or a friend can help you to brainstorm these goalsPlease don’t hesitate to reach out to us online, by phone or in person to see how we can make the most of your funding and find you the providers that are best fit to you.
