MAREE SMITH
MAREE SMITH

At Find Wellbeing, my goal is simple: to turn isolation into inclusion and ensure every person feels supported, respected, and part of a caring community. My journey in healthcare began over 25 years ago as a carer while raising three young children. Those early years taught me the value of compassion, patience, and human connection. Over time, I completed my Bachelor of Nursing and built a career dedicated to supporting people through life’s most challenging moments.Nursing and mentoring are close to my heart. I’ve had the privilege of standing beside people at their most vulnerable, and that experience drives me to keep making a difference.Caring for my mother in her final years gave me a deeply personal understanding of the emotional and practical challenges families face when caring for their elderly parent. It strengthened my passion for our elder community.Community connection is something I value deeply. I believe that when we share stories, offer support, and create spaces where people feel seen and heard, we build stronger, kinder communities. Through my years in nursing, I’ve seen the profound impact of social isolation—and the difference that connection makes. This fuels my commitment to creating spaces where people feel a sense of belonging and wellbeing.Loneliness is a growing concern among older Australians, with one in three reporting feelings of isolation. Persistent loneliness can affect mental and physical health, increasing risks of depression, cognitive decline, and chronic illness. I believe connection is key to fostering resilience and celebrating the wisdom of our elder community.I’m proud to be a member of Carers Victoria and the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), reflecting my commitment to supporting older Australians and their families.
